VNC Servers and Clients

This particular post is primarily focussed on Windows options, however I can't help but mention Mac ones as well since there will almost always be a Mac involved in the equation if I have anything to say about it.

The reason I initially made this post was because we're playing around with integrating three different technologies to accomplish the task of remote instruction of technical software between two different sites in real-time.

Polycom - works
Adobe Connect - works
Remote Desktop - not applicable
Remote Assistance - cumbersom

Actually VNC might be what we're looking for. It provides connectivity, passive viewing, and relatively easy organization.

VNC Thumbnail Viewer allows one to view a number of computers at one time. Will it allow two or three people to view the same computers at the same time? Perhaps we could divide the students into two groups, one for each TA, and allow the TA's to view thumbnails of each of "their" students as they do their work.

At least two computers can monitor the same connection on one student computer. Both TA's could watch and take-over a single student's machine!
